RAF Bentley Priory
Spitfire at RAF Bentley Priory

RAF Bentley Priory in Hertfordshire was 11 Group (Fighter Command) HQ during World War 2. It was from here that Air Vice Marshal Hugh Dowding directed the strategy for the Battle of Britain.

Old Harlequin had the privilege of selling a large quantity of silverware, collectables, ephemera and militaria from the base. Much of the silverware originally from the Officers' Mess at the Priory was in use preceding, during and after the Battle of Britain and provided a rare opportunity to obtain collectable momentos of the "Finest Hour" of the Royal Air Force.

Below are a few images of what went under the Old Harlequin hammer that day. Click any image to enlarge.
